Wndows XP won't update cd content info

When I want to change cd's in either of my cd rom drives. it won't show the
contents of the new cd. I've tried to refresh manually. It keeps showing
the old cd contents. I've found a work around. If I uninstall the drive
in device manager then change out the cd and then add hardware I can get it
to read and use the changed cd. But again it won't allow me to switch again
until I've uninstalled the drive and add hardware. I've even tried to
system restore to an earlier date but no good. I was wondering, in XP is
there anything in the registry that controls this that could have been
corrupted? It's strange that both my drives are affected. Hope someone can
help.

This can be because of 3rd party software - usually, CD recording
or copy protection.

Also, the autorun repair utility can fix the media change indication :
