A week ago my pc start to fail. With surprise I discovered that the "Run" key
have disappeared from the registry and I decided to reinstall windows xp. I
have the original CD with no service pack, 1 or 2, but using the microsoft
tool I create a new CD integrating the service pack 2. Everything goes fine
until the moment to introduce the key. As my key is for the original
installation, this installation not recognize my key. I tried to use the
keyupdate tool, but this tool say to me that the key is already registered
and do not let me use it. How can I recovery my key and use it to reinstall
windows xp service pack 2?
Thanks

Sergio - integrating SP2 with the XP CD does not invalidate the key. Please
be "absolutely" certain you are entering the correct key
numerals/characters - in particular if you are reading from a written key.
There can be confusion between, say, "5" and "S', etc.

Also a call to Microsoft should resolve the proble,.

The product key is independent of the service pack. What is the source of
the product key that you're trying to use? What kind of XP installation CD
did you start with to integrate SP2? Where did you get that CD?

Ok, you noticed there was no run box on the start menu, so you started
to reinstall?

I call Bull-$hit...

And, sir, in which line of his post do you find a mention of the Start menu?
I read his post three times and can't find it.
