Wndows Vista Upgrade Advisor

The first time that I ran the Upgrade Advisor several months agoit ran ok and
gave me the results. Recently, after Vista was released I decided to run the
advisor again before I decided whether or not to upgrade. Before it ran it
notified me that there was an upgrade available for the program which I
downloaded and installed. I had not changed anything on the computer
(hardware). After that when I tried to run the program it would tell me that
it had encounterd an error and cannot continue and if this persists to
uninstall the program and download and install the latest version which I
have done several times with the same result. I noticed that when the program
would start to run my firewall would notify me that Queryappblock was
requesting internet access. When the advisor would run for about 5 mins. it
would lock up my cpu @ 100% and I would have to reboot. I checked the task
manager tonight when it happened and noticed that queryappblock process was
at 98 when the cpu was at 100%. Any suggestions on how to solve this problem ?

Others have reported that issue as well, the new version not working when
the old one does. I don't know if you can search on Google to find the
older version. I have not heard of any resolution to this problem other
than that.

FYI for future use, there are Vista newsgroups.

I'm aware that there are Vista newsgroups, when I posted there I got no
response. Your readers may interested in knowing that a Vista forum reader
suggested repairing Net framework 2.0 which I tried and did not work. I then
disabled my firewall (ZA Pro) and my antivirus (PAV 2007 ) and ran the
advisor and it finshed very quickly. I will post this in the Vista newsgroup
also.
