WMV Files in Powerpoint

B

Bruister

I have a presentation that played WMV files without delay. I have since
built new PC when clicking the file as before I get a black screen for a few
seconds, file comes back again and plays after delay but not smooth. Same
when playing from CD Package so not file path related. There is something
different about my new setup. Files also not playing smooth in Mplay32.exe!
Where do I start?

Yes, I believe Austin meant WMP, as reinstalling will update all codecs
associated with .wmv playback.

Other steps would be to make certain you are running the latest video driver
for your card. Defrag hard-drive so file can be accessed as smoothly as
possible. Go into the display settings and lower the acceleration setting in
the Troubleshooting tab. Finally, as a test, insert a very simple slide
prior to the video slide and then on the video slide remove all animation
and slide transition to assure it is not an issue related to processing
power.

Finally, did your previous video card have dedicated memory and does your
new one have dedicated video memory?
