WMP v10 - Everything Is Black

Why must these things always make me feel like the village idiot? I want to
reply to the reply to my post, but when I click on reply, the only thing I
get is the "Cross-post to these discusssion groups box."

Thank you, Cari (MS-MVP). I did as you suggested -- I downloaded the Gspot
Codec Identifier and tried it on one file. It assured me all was well, that
there were four codecs installed, etc. But the video still played totally
black.

However, most of the videos are mpegs; so I don't see that Gspot will help.

I feel so totally frustrated.

If they are MPEG2 videos, then you must have a DVD decoder installed such as
PowerDVD or WinDVD. If they are MPEG1 videos, then they should play fine.

A Gspot codec identifier,huh....What a waste of time. Are you downloading
these
files from the internet,or viewing on internet.If later,open WMP,select
tools,
options,on 1st page select "connect to the internet",edit the rest, make
sure that
file types tab,you select all.Also,go to microsoft.com,downloads,install
the codec
installation package, you might go to WMP home page, select utilitys, download
all but adobe, unless you use that.
