It is not supposed to, WMP and your MP3 player are two complete different
applications. To transfer files/music from one to the other you can either
use
their import/export features or better yet, use Windows Explorer and the
"copy&paste" feature. It is faster and much better.
Start/All Programs/Accessories/Windows Explorer
then navigate to your music files and click away from one to the other.
