WMM won't recognize MPEGs

I've used movie maker for a while, but I just started getting this messge when I try to import MPEGs "The file C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\My Pictures\MIN\New Folder (2)\pyua 095.mpg is not valid because it does not contain any information." I used to be able to import this same exact clip, but it doesn't work anymore. I also get this sometimes, "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Celtic\Video\mikelep.MPG could not be imported. The selected file is not valid or is corrupted." There is prbably some software interference somewhere, but i've tried everything, and i need this stupid program to work.

Have you renamed or altered any codecs recently in order to sort another
problme with mm2. It may be that the codec you require for these mpegs is no
longer on the pc.
