WMM Quality MM to DVD?

I am trying to make home movies from my Canon DVR. Using digital recording to DVD I am expecting a smooth clear picture, as clear as the camera recording. Some where between edit & burn I lose alot of quality with this program. Am I asking too much from it, or do I have other issues.

You should get perfect video. Describe the process you are trying.

Hooking up the camera using the "eee"cable, I have tried to capture vidio, edit project, then burn it to a DVD-RW. I let the program walk me through it using the optimal settings suggested. Also tried a direct burn from camera to DVD bypassing the edit protion. Quality did not change. The picture is unclear & seems to skip frames. Not smooth at all. I hope that I have a setting issue on the program, I just don't know where.

Are you using export to DVD...?
When you capture, is the capture an .avi file and what size of file do you
get for 1 hour of capture...?
I have used the the lowest DVD settings and get premium results.
