wmf video files stutter during playback

When playing wmf videos in my PPT presentation, they tend to stutter at the
start. Then, at the end, another stutter and a brief return to the opening
frame before advancing to the next slide. The videos all work fine when
played directly with Windows Media Player. Any suggestions? Thanks. (The
PPT presentation was created with PowerPoint 2003)

I created the files with Pinnacle "Studio Plus" software. It allows you to
capture & edit video, then save as a WMF file, which I understood was the
best choice for PPT. As I said, they play fine on Windows Media Player. The
stutter seems to be more pronounced on my new Dell XPS M1330 laptop, but I
have not loaded any MS Office software on it yet. I am just playing a
PowerPoint show with the PowerPoint player which apparently comes with the
Vista OS. I am wondering if the PPT show would play any better if I loaded
the actual PowerPoint software on the laptop. Thanks.

Umm, no, the PPT viewer is not part of Vista. Are you maybe using something
else?

I am probably confused about how a PPT show plays. I created a Powerpoint
presentation on my desktop PC and saved it as a PowerPoint Show. I then
moved that file to a brand new Dell laptop (with NO MS Office software), and
the show plays. However, the video clips stutter at the start, then again at
the end (more pronounced, as it actually flashes back to the opening frame
before advancing to the next slide). When playing the show on my desktop,
the video glitches just slightly at the start, but ends clean and advances to
the next slide without a problem. It plays the same on my older Dell
Inspiron laptop. However, with the NEW, Dell XPS M1330, I have much more
pronounced stuttering.

Not making a plug for our product but you might consider installing PFCPro
on the development PC. (Machine you created the PPT on.) Allow it to
process the file and see if that cures the problem. (PFCPro is available as
a fully functioning two week trail from http://www.playsforcertain.com so it
won't cost you a thing to try it.)
