wma video files playing all black

Hello, i just installed windows media player 9 over my old
version 6 and none of my videos will playback now, the ey
are all black even though i can hear the audio. HAs any
one come across this problem before? Im a professional 3d
animator and really really need to be able to view movies
files on my machine. Thank you.

I found this problem on a laptop where the video would not play on the monitor but would play on the laptop screen. I had to force the laptop to shut off the laptop lcd and only use the monitor for media player to function properly on the Monitor.

Sounds like a codec mismatch. Have you installed any third
party codecs? DivX, etc? If so, try uninstalling them.
