Hi Bo,

Please see:

System32 Folder Opens When Logging on to Windows
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=170086

Also, start/run msconfig, and see if there is a line that loads /L:ENG. If
so, disable it. It comes from a SoundBlaster Audigy driver, but should not
affect that hardware. You can also repair the registry entry if you like by
removing the leading space in the string that loads it.

However, it can also be caused by other incorrectly built registry strings,
and this is your most likely cause. Could you please export and post the
contents of these keys in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

To do this, start/run regedit, expand the branches to each key (do this one
at a time). Click on the key, then on file/export. Give it any name, then
save to the desktop. Once you have saved both keys, close the registry
editor. Right-click one of the saved files on the desktop, choose edit, it
should open in notepad. Click edit/select all/edit/copy. Open a response to
this post and click in the message text area. Hit ctrl+v to paste the
contents. Repeat for the other saved key, then send the post for
examination.

It says executing:c:\windows\system32\wlnotify at startup and opens system32
folder at windows startup; also I have to manually shut down rundll to get
it to restart, and even then it has to be forced to close. Should I send a
copy of the whole registry? Thanks for taking the time to help me! If you
need any hardwood floor advice, I'd be glad to help you as well. Thanks.

Hi BO,

I need some hardwood flooring advice !

I have solid wood flooring which has a stained/tough
surface a few mm deep. How do i best cover up scratches ?
I have several scratches which have gone into the surface
and show up as very light compared to the dark top surface
of the wood.

Thanks,

Tim, in a perfect world you would replace the wood; but matching the stain
can be tricky. I would get the closest stain to the original that I could
find ( a little mineral spirits will lighten it up- not stiring the stain
and draining off the top, so that you get more pigment, will darken it
some), rub it in the scratches, then take masking tape and tape an outline
around all the affected boards[ put tape right on the lines where the boards
meet], coat it with polyurethane and pull off the tape as soon as you get it
coated. When it dries, you can coat the whole thing with satin finish,
whitch tends to hide the floor a bit. If the scratches are real deep, you
might want to get a wood scraper{ a floor supply place will have the right
one }and scrape the scratches out of a few boards to break up the line, then
hand sand it with some 80 grit paper. Dont get too ambitious with the
scraper though as hardwood is just like the name says; hard. Also, if you
sand them by hand ( necessary if you are just doing a few boards), you can
make the stain come out a little darker by taking a moist sponge and lightly
weting the frreshly sanded wood, then letting it air-dry before you put the
stain on. If this isnt clear, you can call me at 757-333-6555. Good luck!

Answered privately, repeated here:

You want to remove this one:
"RunDLL"="rundll32.exe \"C:\\WINDOWS\\Downloaded Program
Files\\bridge.dll\",Load"

This explains why:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/adware.winfavorites.html

If the system32 folder still opens at boot:
After removing it, start/run msconfig. On the general tab, select diagnostic
mode. Click apply/ok and reboot. Then reverse the steps and boot normally.

Answered privately, repeated here:

You want to remove this one:
"RunDLL"="rundll32.exe \"C:\\WINDOWS\\Downloaded Program
Files\\bridge.dll\",Load"

This explains why:

If the system32 folder still opens at boot:
After removing it, start/run msconfig. On the general tab, select diagnostic
mode. Click apply/ok and reboot. Then reverse the steps and boot normally.
