WLM is acting as default; Need Outlook to

I have Windows Live Mail installed however, I am using Outlook 2007 as my
default email client. When I right click on a file and choose "send to mail
recipient", WLM opens a new message. I want that message to be sent through
Outlook. I would also like mail notifications from Messenger to open Outlook,
not WLM. I thought this was done by setting Outlook as the default mail
client but it does not seem to be working. Any suggestions?

Generally, this IS accomplished by setting Outlook as the Default email
client. What operating system? If Vista, does Set your Default Programs
show Outlook as the default and does it show Outlook has all defaults
enabled?

OK, the default email application is set from 'Control Panel|Internet
Options|Programs'. If Outlook is selected here, you might try starting
Outlook with the /CheckClient command line switch; this causes Outlook to
check to see if its the default client and allows you to set it so. This is
the opposite of the usual scenario in which someone wants WLM or some other
email application set as default and Outlook keeps stealing the setting.
Its usually very hard to keep Outlook form assuming the default role, as
every Office update tends to reset Outlook as the default..

Thanks for the suggestions. I checked in the IE settings and it is set to
Outlook. I also tried the /checkclient switch. I am still getting the same
results.
