Wlcome screen account sign on " No Curser"

Has anyone ever had any issues with the curser not appearing next to the
account name when attempting to logon? This is an itermittent problem that is
normally resolved by either logon to another account that does not require a
password and then logoff to password protected account, were the curser will
then appear or a reboot of the machine.

I checked my power options on the desktop that I have and everything is set
normal. hibernation is off, only monitor is set to turn off in two hours.
System standby and harddrive never.

I went into user accounts and toggled off switch users and use the welcome
screen and then re-enabled. I also set my screen saver to another one and
increased the time to see if this corrects issue.

Keyboard works fine on POST with numlock-caplocks etc. Device managers
indicates no conflicts. This appears to be OS related at this time, I even
checked the keyboard settings for repart delay etc.

The other workaround is to press Ctrl-Alt-Del twice and you'll get an
old-style logon screen where you can enter the password.

My brief blog entry about it:
http://www.geekrant.org/2006/10/16/xp-patch-logon-problem/

Existing thread in this newsgroup about it:
http://groups.google.com/group/micr...read/thread/483bce8c254ebf9a/a9cab2ef244cfa01

I haven't found a resolution yet. Nothing in the MSKB, and it only
seems to affect a few other users.

I saw that other users are encountering the same issue and appears to be a
bug with XP.
Anyway, after additional attempts if you wait for a couple of seconds when
screen saver awakened
to the welcome screen cursor will appear.

Also the other workaround is no big deal Ctrl-Alt-Del works fine. There is
really no reason
after checking my system to make dramatic changes.

Appreciate the reply.
