wirless keyboard and system standby

When my system is in standby my MS wireless keyboard/mouse do not do
anything to bring the system out of standby. I have to press the reset
button on the pc and then my keyboard and mouse to nothing and I have to
re-boot my machine.

Is this a known issue and how can I fix it?

You need to enable the mouse and keyboard to be able to wake PC.

Is that done in the BIOS? I did not see any settings in the software for

My 2 new HP laptops both running windowsXP (one home, one media) does the
SAME THING. It was the "HOT KEYS" preventing standby and/or screensaver to
work. I tried to disable hot keys by uninstalling (in device manager), but
they just come back when computer is restarted. I suspect the "fix" is to
assign the "hot keys" properly or find a way to "really" disable them.
Otherwise, you just have to pull the usb out when you want standby or
screensavers to work. That's what I did until I have time to figure out all
the "hot key" functions.

I'm having the same problem with my Optical 4000 wireless keyboard and
mouse. The same situation occurs whether I try using the power option saving
scheme, hibernation, and with or without a screen saver. My system will
either re-boot, suddenly log-off and restart, or leave a strange white
display on the monitor.
None of this occurred until I added the wireless keyboard and mouse.
After reading through your threads it would appear that this is a common
problem with the wireless products that Microsoft hasn't figured out how to
solve.
Rather than having a one line "try this replay" shot back to both of us, I
would appreciate a real answer. I've already noted that another person is
trying to find the answer, so there must be a lot of us out there, who don't
even bother to look in forums such as this.

It would appear you have other interfering 3rd party software installed.

The screen saver does not work when you use a Wireless Optical Desktop

Is there a listing of the 3rd party software that is known to effect this.
I'm not worried about having a screen saver at all, but if I understand this
correctly, the wireless receiver actually doesn't work in this situation, so
you HAVE to push the power on button to "wake something" up as there is no
hardwired connection. It would appear that this is inherent to using this
combination of keyboard and mouse. True?

It would appear that this function was realized earlier in the following:

associated with Windows 2000 server.
The solution appears to be to just us the power on/off button and let the
issue go as the USB 2.0 port is not recognized to recover from standby or
hibernation.
