Wirelss Printing + Brother HL 5250DN

First, I'm not a techie! Currently I have a 3-puter wireless network
(Belkin pre-n, 1 up, 2 down) and if I want to print from the upstairs
computer the one attached to the printer downstairs must be on. So, I
need a new printer and the Brother fits the bill, but can its
networking ability be used wirelessly from any computer without the
others being on? If so, how? Thanx in advance.

Hi,
What does the manual say? Mostly printing is possible but scan may not
work. I use Wireless printer server and HP Photosmart 2610/2575 whcih
print as well as scan. I no more leave one PC on to share printer. When
I need to print, just turn the printer on and any one on the network can
print/scan.

I'm nearly certain this is possible, though I haven't done it myself. I
have this printer, and installed it as a shared printer attached to the
host computer, which has to be on to print from the other computers, and
this works in my situation. The fully networked option came up when I
discussed printer sharing with Brother tech support, though I preferred
the arrangement I'm using since I usually print only from the host
computer and don't necessarily want the router to be on every time I
print. You can discuss it with Brother customer service (pre-sales?) to
be certain. You'll need to connect the printer to the router with an
Ethernet cable, I believe, so you'll want to be sure you have one when
you get the printer.
