Wirelss Networking - Arrrgggh!

Hi all

I'm dipping my toe into the WIFI sea, oh dear!

I've got a desktop PC running XP Home SP1 with a wireless broadband
router/switch and ADSL modem through which I can successfully connect to
the Internet.

I've also got an IBM laptop with a cardbus dual band wireless adapter that
tells me it can see the router.

But I can't browse the network on my XP desktop machine.

I am using KPF 2.1.5 as a firewall, I don't think this is the problem...

I've tried all I can think of without success.

Can anyone offer me any step by step suggestion as to how I can get my
laptop connected to the PC?

TIA

Is the laptop able to access the Internet? If so, you just need to
configure your LAN. The easiest way is to use the XP networking wizard.
When you say, the router tells you it can see the router - what does this
mean? If it can see the router, it can get to the Internet without further
tinkering. If it can't, then you have to configure your wireless
connection.
You might try to connect the laptop to the router by Cat 5, get your network
up and running using the Wizard, and then set up the wireless.

Otherwise, you won't know if it's a wireless configuration issue or a LAN
set up issue.
