wireless protection advice needed

Hello: I have a wired router that I have been using with my desktop, no
problems. Now I have a new wireless,/wired Linksys g router. Right now I am
using zonealarm internet security for my desktop, the question I am asking,
with my laptop will I have to install a security package for the laptop as
well or will the router have something built into it. Any help is welcomed.

Thanks,

GIZMO

Gizmo,

A lot of the time you have a built in firewall with the router, but
personally I would suggest getting a machine based verson & keeping the one
in the router disabled

The Linksys routers use a method called NAT to insure that the correct
computer gets a given packet. They also use a method called SPI to guard
against unsolicited traffic. Your router uses both methods already. These
two don't cover all possibilities; hence it is advisable to have a firewall
running on all computers whether wired or wireless.
