Wireless Problem

I don't know much about wireless routers or networks and stuff so please
forgive me if I say something stupid. My laptop has a built-in wireless
adaptor used to be able to connect wirelessly to a dsl box that also connects
to other computers. But ever since I formatted my laptop, I can't seem to
connect wirelessly to it anymore. It only fails when trying to repair or
connect to it. My only option is to plug a cable from the dsl to the laptop
to get internet access. My laptop used to belong to my dad, who got the
wireless connection to work in the first place, but now he doesn't remember
how he had done it. How do I get my laptop to connect to the dsl wirelessly
again?

Does the wireless adapter show up in Device Manager?.. is there a switch on
one of the sides of the laptop that activates wireless interaction?.. Have
you looked in the manual?..

Wireless adapter does show up in device manager. As for the switch, there
doesn't seem to be one. And the manual... it might take me a while before I
find it. I have to go digging through my dad's stuff...

If you go to the manufacturer website, you might find an online manual
there..

Late model Toshibas have a switch on the right side end plate towards the
screen.. take a good look all around it..

I have just gone thru the same exercise and found that this works for me.
Start
Control Panel
Administrative Tools
Services
Scroll way down to Wireless Zero Configuration
Select it
At top left of window, click on RESTART THE SERVICE.
OK your way out.

Sorry it took me awhile to reply and I appreciate all the help by the way.
^_^ Well I found the manual to my laptop and the directions for setting up
the wireless connection, but it didn't help me fix the problem. But I did
learn more about how they work and I also found the switch to turn it on heh.
I tried cheyenne's way also, and still nothing. I think the problem is
connecting to my router, because a while ago I connected to someone elses
successfully. So now i like to know about router settings or something that
would allow me access to my router.

You will need to consult the router manual, and study the options available
in the wireless router setup.. one of the options will be to turn the
'radio' signal on or off..
