Wireless Personal Laser Printers???

Hello,

I've been looking to purchase a personal laser printer to replace my
ink jet printer. Could anyone explain why there don't seem to be any
personal laser printers with built-in wireless capacity? It would seem
to be a no-brainer that some such products would exist, but I can't
find any. (Of course, if such products do exist, then I'll happily
withdraw the question.)

Thanks,
Harryted

Wireless print servers are pretty cheap on eBay.

I assume you are looking for a monochrome laser.
You could look at the Laserjet 1022nw which is wireless, the printer is a good
choice for personal use or for a home office.
Or the Brother HL-6050DW which is more expensive but has a built in duplexer.
I am sure there are wireless printers available from other manufacturers aso.
There are plenty of colour lasers with wireless capability but the purchase
price and running costs will be higher.

Hi Harry,

There's a couple of printers at the HP site with built in WIFI connectivity.
Here's one:
http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/e...51-236263-14638-f51-410622-410630-410631.html

However, these normally cost much much more than printers without built in
WIFI.

For myself, I get wireless printing for my HP LJ3030 as follows:

a. connect to external HP JetDirect EX print server via parallel cable.
if u check out eBay there are loads of JetDirect devices and costs less
than $20.
pls make sure it is the external box version and comes with the power
supply.

b. connect HP JetDirect EX to Linksys WIFI router via RJ45 cable

You can replace the printer with any other that has a parallel port. There
are print servers with USB ports but they cost much more than parallel port
versions.

The drawback is that the printer must be close enough to the wireless
router.

Hi Harryted --

I recommend just adding a wireless print server.

I've had experience with two wi-fi-equipped HPs
that clients had purchased (before talking to me).

In both instances, as is sadly the case with many
HP products, installation was a hell-world of twisty
little passages that all looked alike and led nowhere.

In both instances, we forgot about the built-in wi-fi.
