wireless PCMCIA card will not accept IP from Router

Guest

I bought a Linksys Wireless Router and a Seimens SS1021
802.11b PCMCIA card and I cannot get hte PCMCIA card to
release the 169.XXX.XXX.XXX address. This is on a W2K
laptop.

I tried a ipconfig /release (and /renew) to no avail.

What am I missing?

You will continue to have the autonet address of 169.x until you find a DHCP
Server.

Before you can get an IP address from the DHCP Server with a wireless Nic,
the nic needs to be active and correctly on the Wireless Segment first. So
make sure that we are configured with the right SSID, and we that our
wireless link is active. :)
