No ip address when switching between NIC's on laptops

Hi all,
I'm having kind of a weird problem with laptops.
The laptops have an internal NIC and a pcmcia WLAN card.
When connecting to the network with the internal NIC
(without the pcmcia wlan card inserted), I don't get an
ip address from the DHCP server.
When I do an ipconfig /renew it's working again.
Then I shut down completely and reboot with the the
pcmcia wlan card inserted and no cable to the internal
nic attached. Same issue occurs. I don't get an ip
address.
I searched the Technet site and found that when returning
from hibernation the same problem occurs.
I applied Windows 2000 SP4 but the problem remains.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks

Use hardware profiles. One profile uses the internal nic while the wireless
card is disabled, the other profile is just the opposite.
