Wireless networking questions...

Aaron

Alright, I just got done setting up my wireless network. I have one
computer hooked to a Linksys router/WAP combo with CAT-5, and another
computer with a Linksys wireless PCI card. Internet access is up and
working fine, both computers get about 1.2 Mbps downloads on a speed test.
I'm running WinXP Home on both systems, along with Grisoft AVG and ZoneLab's
ZoneAlarm (free version). However, when I try to access the hard drive of
either computer from the other, I get error messages. When using the
computer that is hard wired to the router, I can get to a point (in Windows
Explorer) where I can see both computers (My Network Places --> Enter
Network --> Microsoft Windows Network --> Mshome --> (the names of the two
computers). Now, when I try to use the computer that is hard wired to the
router to access the wirelessly linked one, I'm told that the network path
can not be found. When I use the wirelessly linked comptuer to try to
access the hard-wired computer, I can only get to "My Network Places -->
Enter Network --> Microsoft Windows Network --> Mshome", and then it tells
me that it can not find the servers for the network. I have Windows file
sharing enabled on both the hard drives (right-click on drive in Explorer,
go to sharing, and select "Share this folder o nthe network". I'd like to
fix this.... Does anyone out there know how to?

I'm a little teapot, short and stout
here is my handle, here is my...other...handle?
Bloody Hell!!
I'm a sugar bowl!

BTW, sorry for the crossposting, I wasn't sure which NG to post to.

Suggest you look at firewall, this happened to me, I had to add both PC's to
trusted zone on ZA

And just how would one go about doing that?

PC's
Aaron,

Check your firewall logs when you attempt to enter other PC, it should
give a lof of not allowing programme, highlight in log, and add to trusted
zone, by clicking add to zone, specify the correct ip address and accept.
This worked for me but there are 1001 things that can go wrong when setting
up local network. i used the following link to connect my network, although
I am on wireless rather than ethernet. HTH
