Is it safe to connect to a wireless network that shows in the wireless
networks available even with a firewall and antivirus program? Will the
owner of the network be able to hack into my computer?

Thank you.

If the owner of the WAP has a unsecured WAP, you think he is smart enough to
hack.

William,

I wouldn't know. But would it be possible that this available wireless
network could be a bait? I wouldn't know since I'm no expert--but maybe you
will.

I really doubt it, there are many people running unsecured WAP. Just drive
around your neighbourhood. Most people just hook WAP up and do nothing to
secure them. It just provides other people to gain access to their network
and do damage.

Thanks for clearing it up William. So there's more harm I could do than the
network owner can do to me? What precautions should I take?

How about, use own your judgement.

Personally, I would never connect to an unknown network.
