Wireless Network from Laptop With XP Home to Desktop with 2000 Pro

Hey folks,

New to wireless networking, but enjoying it in baby steps. I am looking
for help in doing the following:

I have a desktop PC, running Windows 2000 Pro, hardwired to a Linksys
Wireless Router, model WRT54G.

I am looking to access files on that desktop and use the printer that
is attached to it, through my wireless connection that I am using to
surf the net on my laptop that has Windows XP Home installed.

What do I need to do to do the above. Again, I play around with
computers, but if you could write it for a 6th grader to understand, it
would be greatly appreciated.
