In most cases, after you finish reinstalling Windows XP you will need to
install the latest drivers for any number of your computer's hardware
components. Right click My Computer -> Select Manage from the menu -> Click
on Device Manager in the left hand column. Any items with yellow exclamation
points next to them would indicate a driver needs to be installed.

The correct drivers should be available from the computer or component
manufacturer's web site. If you're not sure how to proceed, post back with
the make and model of your computer or wireless network adapter.

Good luck

Go to Control Panel > Network Connections > Properties and tick the
Show icon in notification area when connected box.
