Wireless Network cards cannot obtain an IP address

I have setup a wireless configuration at work. I am trying to connect from
an XP workstation running Service pack 2. The laptop can see the wireless
router but cannot obtain an IP address. If I attach a laptop via an Ethernet
cable connected to the router a dhcp address is given out.
I have tried a laptop running XP service pack 1 via wireless and it can
obtain a dhcp ip address. Can you help

What I have found with one of my laptops at the house after SP2 and it
sitting in the "aquiring IP Address" state that if I open the network list
disconnect and reconnect it all seems right in the world although a pain in
the arse it seems to get past whatever glitch is still in SP2.
