Wireless Key not accepted

This is driving me absolutely crazy...

I have a Cisco Access Point that i have enabled a WEP key on. The WEP Key
is 26 characters long. I type the 26 characters into the appropriate boxes
on the XP client and i get back an error saying that my key was entered
incorrectly and i have to enter it in 26 character Hex Format. I know for a
fact that i typed in 26 characters, and that i have typed it in correctly. I
even changed the key on the AP to 26 1's. I then typed in 26 1's on my
client, same problem. How in the world do i get this machine to accept the
Key ?!

Thanks in advance.

26 hex characters represents 128 bit wep. Cisco Aironet products can
establish 40-bit WEP connections with IEEE 802.11b-compliant non-Cisco
products. To use 128 bit wep you need the client to be a compatable cisco
product. You did not tell us whether or not it is.

Try 40 bit wep (10 hex digits).
