Wireless internet.

One PC hardwired to NTL Cable modem. MSI MG54GT Wireless router connected to
the same modem via Ethernet cable. Other PC has MSI USB Rx/Tx.
Problem. unable to connect to Internet. Dongle PC is connecting to router,
(flashing lights on USB and able to connect to router via instruction manual
provided IP address) signal strength is good to v.good.
Any help appreciated.

so what's the problem?
You're running 1 system connected by..... USB to the cable modem?
You're running the ethernet connection from the same cable modem
to the router? And the router won't connect wirelessly to a second
system? Dongle system..... the second PC has a wireless NIC connected
to it by a dongle? By serial port? Ethernet? But won't connect to
the internet.....

WILL the cable modem run both connects at the Same Time? Router may not
be getting any internet to give to the second system.

Software firewall running on second PC preventing any connection?
Even the default winders firewall thingy?

Can you, or have you even tried to connect to the firmware of the router
thru your browser? IP address of the browser is in the manual 192.168.0.1?

Does the router have wired ports? Have you tried configuring it thru them?

Filtering enabled on the router? Is the MAC address of the dongle nic
specified in the router firmware?

Is WEP or other encryption enabled on the router but not the dongle?

Is WEP or other encryption enabled on the dongle but not the router?

Have you tried resetting the router with the little button on the back?

Were the settings in the router firmware previously configured in a
different setup or are they out of the box?

Do you have some type of connection wizard software for the dongle?

If the router is in the same room, and you don't have excellent signal
strength, are you sure the the router and dongle nic are broadcasting on
the same bandwidth? 2.4 or 5GHZ?

Is there any compelling reason not to put the router between a Single cable
modem connection and the 2 PCs?

Is the router broadcasting SSID and is the dongle software actually trying
to connect to that specific SSID alone as it's primary connection?

You only get 1 IP address per cable modem. Correct connection is:

Internet <=> Modem <=> Router <=> Computers

The router provides IP addresses to the computers via DHCP, and routes the
traffic to the appropriate computer via NAT.

My grateful thanks to John Weiss.
I reconnected everything in the order that you suggested and it worked. I
disconnected the USB link from the modem to the 1st PC and the system worked
wirelessly to the "2nd PC. All I need now is another USB wireless adapter
and I can have both PCs on line simultaneously which was the original
desired outcome.
