wireless icon says "Not Connected" but I'm connected

The Wireless Network Connection icon has a red x and
says" Not Connected."

It's no big deal, but it's a XP SP2 thing and slightly
annoying.

Anybody else having this issue? I saw it in a couple of
other forums, but does MS have a fix/workaround?

Yep I have the same issue - it seems random - sometimes the x appears even
though I'm connected, other times it doesn't. Don't know why. I agree. It
IS annoying. The article (linked in the prior msg) doesn't seem to address
it, but I haven't read it carefully yet.

I forgot to mention (and can't figure out how/if one can edit posts) that
occasionally a dialogue window pops up asking me if I want to dial up, when,
indeed, I am connected wirelessly and surfing away... I just cancel the box
and go on my merry way...

Go to IE/Tools/Internet Options/Connections/Never dial.......

Good idea regarding the dialogue box. Does that apply even though I don't
use IE? Still curious about that icon issue, though. I'm sure the answer
will pop up here sooner or later...
