I just (re)installed a Hawking wireless HWP54G wireless card on a
system running Windows XP SP2. Never makes a stable connection. It
either keeps trying to connect (yellow ball goes back/forth) or it
makes a "very good" connection for a couple of seconds and then
disconnects.

I have other clients and they're able to connect just fine so it's not
the access point. I brough laptop as far away as the desktop where
I'm having the problem and it can connect. It was working before!

Any ideas, PLEASE?

Thnx

Never makes a stable connection.

For what it's worth, I have never had good luck with PCI wireless cards for
desktops, which I blame entirely on the fact the antenna is sticking out the
back of a large metal box (case) and can not be independently moved. I am
sure it would be fine with a detached antenna, if one is available for your
particular card -- otherwise, you'd better off with a USB wireless adapter.
It was working before!

Have you moved the computer or the wireless access point?

Neither AP or desktop have been moved. I am using a detached antenna.

Thx
