Wireless Connection Problem

Hi All,
I have problem with wireless connection in Windows Vista. I have used
Windows XP and upgraded to Windows Vista since it's released.

I experienced this error that I will be disconnected from my wireless
connection, after browsing for several hours. I am actually still
connected to wireless, the connection system tray (right bottom
corner) still shows that I am still connected to internet. But,
everytime I browse using IE/Firefox, it will display "The page cannot
be displayed". The funny thing is all my other active messengers are
still online/connected. I have tried to reconnect (disconnect/
connect), reset IP, etc, without success. The only way to solve it is
only through restarting the whole OS. I have other machine with
Windows XP, it works perfectly without this problem at all.

This problem doesn't occur when I use wired LAN cable at office.

Is there others experience the same problem? Any solution?

Thank you.

Check the Properties of the wireless adapter hardware via CONTROL
PANEL/SYSTEM/DEVICE MANAGER.

Make sure it is not set to turn off to save power

Hi Frenchy,
Thank you for the answer. I have accessed the properties of Wireless
Network Connection in Device Manager, but I cannot find option to turn
off to save power. In the advanced tab, I can only find Ad Hoc Channel
802.11a,b/g, Mixed mode protection, Preamble Mode, Roaming
Aggressiveness, Throughput Enhancement, Transmit Power, and Wireless
Mode. Do you have other clue? Thank you.

Actually, I am still connected to the wireless. And, any established
connection, like remote desktop (using VPN to office network) still
connected without any problem. It's just when I browse using IE/
Firefox, the browser displayed "The Page cannot be found". Anyone with
the same experience?

Thanks.

I am by no means an expert or advanced user. However, I had the same problem
until I remembered that I had to go to my modem manufacturer's home page and
establish the network connection for my new operating system. I also enabled
"selective outbound ping". Problem solved in my case. Also, you may have to
configure your software firewall settings to allow certain IPv4 and IPv6
connections. I really don't know. You should get help from someone with more
experience than me. Don't get frustrated. I am sure there is a simple
explanation.
