Wired Network

have set up a wired home network between two of my
computers, two feet from each other, but now i want to
move them a few floors from each other. I have found some
network cable but do not know if it's Cat5. The markings
on it are:
AT&tT-o 1024 000A 4/24 (UL) MPR/CMR KH14151 06374 FT

Also, are cat3 cable compatible with a standart network?
Since this cable has 8 wires inside, just like a standart
Cat5, could i still use it without as it it was Cat5?
What are the drawbacks of using a Cat3?

CAT 5 cables with RJ45 connectors already installed are readily available
from most computer stores in lengths from 6 feet up to and exceeding 100
feet - and the prices are quite low. Don't take a chance with a sub-standard
CAT 3 cable.

I know nothing about the AT&T cable you mentioned. Possibly you may be able
to identify it at some AT&T website.
