WinXP USB port

Hello,

I have any external hard disk, which is connected to the
USB port. My OS is WinXP + sp1.1, which can also detect
the external hd. When I use mouse to copy in or out the
ext.hd, the connection is lost. I need to reboot the PC
then the connection is there again.

Any suggestion?

Is the external hard drive connected directly to the PC or to a USB hub. If
connected to a hub, try connecting it directly to the PC and see if that
resolves the issue.
