Hi,

I have a Windows XP PC that is running a Pentium 4 - 2.4 GHz CPU with 1GB
RAM on an ECS motherboard.

Once so often (too often for me) it decides to reboot without any
warning!!!! I looked at the event log to see if anything had been captured -
but I could not find anything with a time stamp close to the time it last
rebooted!!!

What could be causing this behaviour? Where can I get a log of what
happenned? What can I do to isolate this problem and find out what is
causing this problem?

Help - any help is appreciated!!!

Regards,

Ted M.

Hi

If you don't see any error messages with the shutdown/restart, right click
on My Computer, select Properties and then the Advanced tab. Click on
Settings under Startup and Recovery and disable 'Automatically restart'.
Next time your PC reboots, you should see a Blue Screen. Could you please
post the Stop Code from the BSOD? With that your problem could be narrowed
down.

Thanks - I will do what you suggested and will post the Stop Code, next time
it happens.
Thanks again.

Hi,

I did as Will Denny suggested. I went to My Computer and disabled
'Automatically restart' ....
Then when the system rebooted without any warning or error message I
restarted the computer and went to the Microsoft - Events Viewer and then to
System and copied the following error message.

(Hope it provides the into that you (Will) had asked for.

Regards, Ted M........

The error message from System Event Viewer is as follows:
