WinXP Sp3

Hello Group
I would like to check that indeed Microsoft created the SP3 version of
the WinXP but was cancelled or possibly shelved to give way to Vista.
Some Warez site showed some specimens for it but .
Supposing the upgrade is really available does it improve the WinXP
performance dramatically? Does it have any peculiarity which might
make Vista redundant confirming the reason that it was never
distributed?
TIA

You can download Windows XP SP3 "release Candidate" free from
Microsoft right now and no need to get it from unknown web sites.
Performance has in fact increase a bit from reports on some web sites.

You can download it here:

Remember, it's still not a final product and only for testing
purposes. All speculation points to a February release.

Do you have any reputable links that discuss performance increases?

There was one posted a few months back on an earlier build but nothing
that's current unfortunately. Someone reading this might be able to
post something current hopefully.

~Alex~.:MVP Windows Shell/User:.

There is no recent comparisons to XP SP3 related to XP SP2. There has been
at least 2 updates to XP SP3 since that comparison was done. Have to wait
for the final to be released before you see more of the debates of XP SP3
compared to Vista SP1.

If nothing else, I liked it just to consolidate all of the updates on the
add/remove programs screen into one line.
