After downloading and installing WinXP Pro SP1, I could not start WinXP, it
reported "taskmanager problem and submit error report...." Though I can
start in safe mode and go to system restore, I still cannnot restart WinXP.
During the installation of SP1, I remember I have selected the option to
keep the old files and settings. How can I set back everything to
pre-installation of SP1 from safe-mode? Thanks.

I have a set of start-up disks for WinXP. Could I use them to restart WinXP
again?

Hi,

From Safe mode, access Add & Remove programs in the control panel. You can
uninstall SP1 from there. Or, try System Restore from the system tools in
the program menu.

Try both methods, but they don't work. SP1 not listed in add/remove. Any
other methods ? Thanks.

Hi,

Set folder options/view tab to see hidden and operating system files. Locate
the blue $Ntservicepackuninstall$ folder under C:\Windows. Open it up and
look for the uninstall.exe file within it. Double-click the file (it may be
in a sub-folder) to start the uninstaller.
