Hi
I have seen multiple posts about Windows XP slarting slowly. I also have this problem. Nearly 2 minutes to boot up (1.8 GHz PC with 512 MB RAM, Window XP Pro fully patched)

I have run msconfig to restart in Diagnostic mode which loads the minimal amount of serices required and the delay still happens. I can only assume one of Microsofts patches has caused this problem

My internet connection has always had firewall turned on and I do not down loaded any dodgy software. I also run as fully up to date MCAffee antivirus software and am pretty sure I am virus free
Any ideas?

Mant thank

Gary

I chevcked the event log and this is taking over a minute:

Application popup: : Machine Check:

Linking to a Microsoft website gavce the infomation
below. The question is which driver do I need to fix??!!

Details
Product: Windows Operating System
ID: 26
Source: Application Popup
Version: 5.2
Symbolic Name: STATUS_LOG_HARD_ERROR
Message: Application popup: %1 : %2

Explanation
The program could not load a driver because the program
user doesn't have sufficient privileges to access the
driver or because the drive is missing or corrupt.

User Action
To correct this problem:

Ensure that the program user has sufficient privileges to
access the directory in which the driver is installed.
Reinstall the program to restore the driver to the
correct location.
