WinXP shuts down IE automatically

Today one of the PCs in my office developed a problem
where it reboots itself whenever you go into Internet
Explorer, Windows Explorer, Control Panel or My Computer.
Of course the user has no idea how it happened. I ran a
virus scan with the latest Symantec virus defs and nothing
turned up. Also ran Ad-Aware and deleted a lot of spyware
programs, but it didn't fix the problem. Everything works
OK in safe mode but not in normal mode. I compared the
list of running processes in Task Manager to another Win
XP computer and everything looks good. What else can I try?
