WinXP: safe to delete C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download and C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386?

I am running SP2, these two dirs occupies 1GB in total, are they safe to
delete? What's the use? Thx.

The first (Download) can be safely be deleted.
The second (i386) may be needed if you have problems or you otherwise
need to check for or repair files.
