WinXP Pro SP-2 Q329441

I do not know how the Q329441 SP-2 got on my computer but I contacted
USRobotics about an error message I was receiving when I shut down.
The advised the error was being caused by SP-2. I tried to delete the
file using the Control Panel/add-remove however I do not get the
remove option.

I went to the MS Knowledge Base and downloaded the "How to remove
Windows XP SP2 from your computer" and noting seems to work.

Any assistance/help/advice will be greatly appreciated.

Based on information I have read, I do not want SP2 on my computer.

Thanks,

Sam

SP 2 is very important and is very needed.
To fix your issue turn off the windows firewall.

Interesting, the patch number 329441 is a Windows XP or XP SP1 update. SP2
doesn't need it and won't install it. Lets make sure you have SP2 on the
machine, start Windows Explorer. Select Help > About Windows. Does the
second line (starts with "Version 5.1") show that Service Pack 2 is
installed? If it isn't, did USRobotics point you to this link?

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;329441

Is the error message you get at shutdown one of the messages reported in the
link above? If it isn't, what is the text of the message?

The windows explorer second line indicates Version 5.1.

I was told by USR that SP-2 was causing the problem (At closing I get
the message USRprbda.exe dll initialization failed.)

I came to this outlook link by mistake and should have gone to
"microsoft.public.windowsxp.general.

I appreciate your interest in trying to help me.

The windows firewall was already turned off.

Thanks for your interest even though I am on the wrong newsgroup.
