The company that I work for purchased a Toshiba laptop pre-installed
with Windows XP Pro shortly after WinXP was launched. Now, many moons,
several app installs/uninstalls and 4 users later the machine is
running very very slowly. The current user is leaving and we would
like to take to opportunity to reformat the harddrive and reinstall
everything, before being passed onto the next user. The problem is
that the restore/os reinstallation CDs moved along with the laptop, and
now they cannot be found.
We recently purchased some new desktops and a full copy of WinXP Pro
w/SP2 to install on another desktop. Is it possible to use this copy
to re-install Windows on the laptop, with the valid serial number that
came with the laptop? If not, is there anyway that we can reinstall
Windows on the laptop without having to purchase another copy of WinXP
Pro? We are a small company, and trying our best to comply with any
software licence agreements.
