WinXP pro network

Mark Wilmes

Microsoft MVP,

I have two computers running Windows XP professional
networked together in a Workgoup peer to peer. I can see
both computers on the network but I can not access files
shares on computer1 from computer2. I get the following
error when I click on resource in windows explorer:
\\computer1 is not accessable. you might not have
permission to use this network resource.
Login failure: user account restriction. possible reasons
are blank passwords not allowed, login hour restrictions.
or policy restrictions.

I did not setup anything special, I just allowed sharing
on a folder on computer1. I did disable simply file
sharing on both computers.
Any ideas why I cant access my file shares?

Thanks,

mark

You must have enable File Sharing on the computer you are
trying to connect to. Also, you must properly share the
folder. You must also connect to the remote PC with an
account on that PC that has a password specified. I dont
believe blank passwords work.

Hi Mark
Re-enable simple file sharing and try again
