[Attn: (K.Graham, Ray Bush, Michael Solomon, i noticed you 3 had guru knowledge, if this reaches you, i would greatly appreci. any info to shed light:) TIA!

I'm running WinXP Pro on Dell Dimension 8200 Desktop, in my office, on one of the machines. I ran Backup Utility. Selected (as advised in WinXP Pro, indexed help that came with WinXP Pro; and ... http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/using/howto/security/backup.asp ., et.al? ), Selected drive E (CDRW) (by 'browsing' for drive E:) with a already formated CDRW Blank disk, PRIOR, as the first few tries didn't recognize drive E, w/ an unformatted CDRW discto this whole process. I chose next, from OPTIONS, for a Normal Backup (selecting MY DOCUMENTS and few attributes or somthing?). Windows XP Pro Help stated about ability to do 'log file', however, i don't remember having that as an option. I didn't change FileTypes selection. I Last, only may have selected to verify that the data was backed up correctly. I then clicked &...Started Backup Utility . I did a little math, in few minutes, realized it was going to take possibly/roughly 25 (700MB CDRW's blank CD's) to do this endeaver. I CLICKED .............."CANCEL"
Now, BackupProgress window is still there, with status as "canceled", yet, it continues (w/out the progress bar ), to exponentially calculate time it's been running ((5hrs. 54min)), and says it will take a whole 822 days! to Estimatated (Time) Remaining". As well, the processing appears to have stuck on ...C..(thispart not viewable)..AcrobatColorSettings.csf", having processed thus far only 16 files it said, at bottom.

I am unable to close the application/utility via the following: 1., hitting the X at top of BACKUP Progress window. 2. CTRL+ALT+DLT , Task Mgr didn't have any Applications open and running, however, the "ntbackup.exe" was taking number two for most memory usage, (SVCHOST.exe -system- was taking the most memory usage. If i try to 1., end that ntbackup.exe process, it says system to be UNSTABLE/lose data. START MENU, then turnoff/restart, didn't work/system didn't react to that either. ALL else in computer seems running ok...and i can as u see, use net.

I read a few of your suggestions/commnts from people to chk TruImage?
( http://www.acronis.com/products/trueimage/faq.html ) and there are some fyi bewares

Just how long do you plan on waiting for one of them to
answer your problem ?? End the task, It always gives you
that warning, no big deal.

If you are going to use CDRW to back up to you need a
program to span cd's. If you want anything more buy a
external drive.
