Hi there, my windows XP ran into crash and I used the Win XP built in
restore to a previous working point. After that, it does not work.

When it boots, the starting screen shows normally then appear an error
message "lsass.exe" not working and lsasrv.dll not found.

I booted to the safe mode, it appears the same message with added
reamrk saying resinstallation of the lsass.exe program could solve the
problem but it never succeeds to a working Win XP and I could not
reinstall the program.

Any idea how can I fix it, could I reinstall Win XP and keeps my data
intact?

Thanks in advance.

Oh yes , mine is a dual boot using GRUB loader to select OS to boot.
Will repair installation wipe out the loader information and rewrite
the MBR ?
Thanks.

Hi, all

I tried to do the repair install, but it did not work. After the repair
installation, the same error appears.

Even worse, my Linux is also down. I am thinking about this may be due
to a dying hard disk.

I have bought another new computer from Dell, with Win XP home,
previously I am using Win XP Pro. If ever I can access to the files on
my old computer, how can I restore the previous setting, eg e-mails..
in such situation. I might upgrade the Win XP Home to Pro if needed.
For the new computer, I am using hardware Raid and hope teh same
problem does not repeat .

Thanks in advance.
