Winxp network

My win xp local area connection is sending but not receiving. This is XP Pro
version 2002. I did remove some spyware but it was all low risk.
I thought it might be the browser so I tried firefox. This did not work. The
protacal and services seem fine. And the usb net adapter is not the problem.
