I wanted to buy new OS - I found that WinXP is more expensive then
Vista.
I wish the same rules apply to my car...

if cost is really an issue, you can go with Ubuntu;

Since XP is not being made, and no one wants Vista , Windows XP is
going to be more expensive

Dell are charging a premium for XP over Vista. £50 extra for a business pc
with XP Pro instead of Vista Business.

This is very annoying when you're looking after small businesses with legacy
applications which will not run on Vista, and these small businesses can not
afford to spend time and money training staff on Vista's quirks and new way
of using it.

In time Vista will be good, but right now it's easier and simpler for many
to stick with XP.

Intel have had an internal memo posted on www.theinquirer.net showing they
are not to have Vista on their internal PC's.

An example of Vista being a pain: Vista Backup. Try it and see for
yourself. You cannot select files or folders. You can only choose
"pictures" or "movies" or "documents" or a couple of other similar
groupings. That's it. Small businesses use backup in XP Pro for backing up
critical files, it's simple and you can pick the individual files which are
essential and leave all the unnecessary stuff out. Vista will not do this.

But sure Vista will be good in time.

Seeing as Vista is now at SP1, presumably all the problems have been ironed
out!

LMFAO!

If only that were true. I do video work for a living and most of my
video apps (including a couple Adobe apps) crash in Vista all the time
but run perfectly smooth in XP.

I WOULD LOVE to go back to XP-64bit, but I can't while I still have to
spend a third of EVERY work day dealing with "Vista issues".

Fortunately, I got my free XP downgrade from Dell a year ago.
