Hi all,
Recently I built a new PC for my father in law, which I installed
Windows 98 on, followed by the Windows XP SP2 update. All went well, I
managed to get Windows XP registered and it has been downloading the
regular updates for a few months.
That was until yesterday morning. A message was on the screen saying an
upgrade for Windows was available and asked that it be installed. He
did this and when he came back to use the computer an hour or so later,
another message came up that said something to the effect that his
version of windows may not be genuine. It also said that it could not
find the key.
He has the Certificate of Authenticity, so we know the version of
Windows is genuine.
Could someone give me some advice on how to restore the serial number
to Windows, so that the updates continue to download ?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
