I am having difficulty addding a Windows XP home computer
to my network over a wireless network. Connectivity is
made to the wireless network, but the IP addresses are
all wrong. I have another Windows XP home computer
connectd to the network the same way..no problems. It
seems that the DHCP functionality of the OS is broken.
Here are the symptoms:

1. Current IP is 169.223.43.25 subent is 255.255.0.0
2. DHCP will not renew
3. I cannot delete the current connection
4. I cannot add a new connection

I have tried doing the netsh int ip command. It executed
but did not resolve the problem.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Mike

Make sure the DHCP client service is enabled in your Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, SErvices

By default, it should be set to Automatically Start (and as a consequence,
it should be started)

Yes, DHCP was started and is set to automatically start. I restarted it and
tried to repair the connection...I received and error:
DHCP could not be renewed. Please contact your network administrator.

ANy other ideas ?
