WinXP - backing up to DVD

O

occam

Simple question - how do I backup files, system state of by WinXP onto a
DVD (or CDs)?

When I follow the WinXP backup guide... it mentions backing up to hard
disk and to ...tape (!?), but not CDs or DVDs.

Do I need additional backup software (to those in the XP repetoire) to
do backups to DVD?

thanks for any guidance

The old NTBackup will not back up to CD/DVD. It was designed for NT 4
and tape drives. A better solution is to purchase Acronis True Image
which will allow you to make an image of your entire system for quick
recovery as well as do incremental data backups. Purchase an external
hard drive to hold the images and the data and then burn the data to DVD
regularly.

I agree on Acronis TrueImage. Great program which will backup directly to
DVD or CD.
