Winxp and wireless ?

I got NetgearMA401, 802.11b; Router Netgear MR314 and Comcast.net in
Maryland.

So far I get no connection when I remove the Output cable from the cable
modem MotorolaSB4100 and plug it into the Router and then from the output #1
to the Computer. I cannot understand why. All lights are green on cable
modem and Router.

When I unplug again and re-insert them just into the cable modem, I got
connections back.

What could possibly cause this?

Until I have solved this I cannot go further with the wireless connection to
the laptop.

Thanks in advance

Did you run the set up software that came with the router? If not, do so. Then
call tech support at Netgear, if you still have problems. I use LinkSys for my
home/office network and found their TS to be very helpful. Hopefully Netgear
TS will be as useful for you.
